I haven't lj-ed for some time. I've been quite busy and nothing interesting has happened lately so I decided to spare people from my mundane posts lol. Real life isn't amazing so yeah. I need glasses though.

I've been watching a lot of stuff lately!!! I'm not sure why but Tegami Bachi isn't doing a good job keeping me interested through the whole season and Kobato is okay, but not really engaging...so what does Mira do? She looks for other stuff to watch of course! HAR.

Mushi-shi

Watched this out of sheer curiosity. I was watching it a few months back but as a person who has problems watching the last episode of a really good series (It's more like a NOOO I DON'T WANT IT TO ENDDDDD Thing), I only managed to finish this a few days back. Highly recommended.
Summary from wikipedia:

The story features ubiquitous creatures called Mushi that often display supernatural powers. Mushi are described as beings in touch with the essence of life, far more basic and pure than normal living things. Due to their ephemeral nature most humans are incapable of perceiving Mushi and are oblivious to their existence, but there are a few who possess the ability to see and interact with Mushi.

One such person is Ginko (ギンコ?), the main character of the series. He employs himself as a Mushi master (蟲師, mushi-shi?), traveling from place to place to research Mushi and aid people suffering from problems caused by them. The series is an episodic anthology in which the only common elements among episodes are Ginko and the various types of Mushi. There is no over-arching plotline.

It's episodic in nature so following through isn't a problem, all episodes are self contained. Calming but very engaging series. It's thought provoking as well. None of the characters are annoying, despite some of their bad choices. My favorite episode is the final one though. Mostly because I finally got myself a gay ship eventhough one of them eventually starts his own family. THIS WILL NOT FALTER ME. HERE HAS SOME CAPS OF MY SHIP:

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

WELL YES I ONLY STARTED WATCHING YESTERDAY LOL. I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. I've only seen 2 episodes and they're pretty good. And-- I really like pretty much anything by Gainax.
I appreciate how stylistic it is and the colors are so bright and fun. It'll probably take me some time to finish it but hey, I'll try lol.

Casshern Sins
Stylized and pretty cool. I've only seen one episode and the animation is eyecandy.


Set in the future where the world is about to end, Casshern who is said to trigger the apocalypse has no memory of what he's done. And STUFF LIKE THAT. The premise is interesting. Only the torrent for it doesn't have a lot of seeders so I doubt I'll even see this through. :(

In other news I'm kind of failing at PDCMAH lately, I need to work harder so I decided to do some research with backgrounds and that sort of thing. I also need to practice perspective and all that shiz. I'm pretty sure I have self confidence issues now loooool. I've got to work haaaarrd. X3

Chie for my comic Please Don't Call Me a Hero. She's a character who hasn't appeared yet and although I knew her personality and character well, her design was really tough. That was until I saw a model with hair like Chie's on Channel V lol.

I may love drawing gay but I like drawing cute girls okay. Ha.

Admittedly, one of the reasons I sought out Jin-Roh was because of the references to Little Red Riding Hood (Because I love it, like a lot and I've used that theme for a couple of fics I think). I finally got to download it through torrent a few days back and have seen it two times. Written by Mamoru Oshii of Ghost of the Shell (which I haven't been able to sit through, yeah I wasn't really hooked to begin with. D8) Released back in 1999, it's ten years old but has aged well. It tells of an alternate future where Japan is under the nazi occupation and how a special unit officer named Fuse, falls into a relationship with a girl claiming to be the sister of a terrorist who killed herself before Fuse's eyes.

In a nutshell, beneath the politics and carnage, Jin-Roh might as well be one of the most tragic love stories on film.

One of my favorite aspects of this film is how atmospheric it is, accompanied by a beautiful score just settles the mood even more. What I find amazing in this is that there's so much restrained emotion within Jin-Roh. All of the characters seem to have a storm of things inside them but only so little manage to reach the surface.

Made me ponder on my own humanity for a while. Which is always a good thing.

They don't make them like this anymore. Not that I'm requiring every single anime to have some kind of depth or philosophical edge to it. I just wish more things like this would be released to fight out the mediocre lot.

Stuff I will blabber about when I get the chance: Wild Zero (because this is the ultimate Japanese rock and roll zombie true love movie ever. THIS SHIT IS WACKED OUT.), Maiden Rose (a.k.a Whoa what? Yaoi anime which I had high expectations for but did not do it for me. Good thing there was porn.), Steamboy (It has Otomo written all over it, PG-style), Now and Then, Here and There (Because this shit is depressing as well as one of the best anime ever now if only I didn't feel so bad after every episode. Yes, I have a thing for anti-war themes in my anime. D:)

In other news, finally finished that 58-page first chapter for Please Don't Call Me a Hero. I'm so proud of myself wtf!

Oh maaaaan. I was supposed to type a long, somewhat detailed entry but that all went down the drain because I don't know where to start. Coherency...what is it? Hahaha.

Well, first things first-- I took the Dubai Metro to work today it's refreshingly convenient. The only means of public transportation here in Dubai are the bus and taxis. Buses are inconvenient while taxis are expensive. So the Dubai Metro is something of a relief to people here. Haha. Well it sure is fancy. As is with most things in Dubai.

Sometimes I think I should draw a Dubai-tan ala Hetalia, he'd probably be someone somewhat vain. Hahahaha. *shot* But he would probably be really hot....in the literal and figurative sense roflmao.

Also, we're moving houses by the end of the month! I'm not sure if that's exciting ahahahaha.

I know this is probably something people are better off not hearing but I hate my extreme mood swings. But I dislike so many things right now. I'm probably at my limit rofl. If something really annoying comes up I'll probably completely snap. I'm so unstable!




I've been looking into a couple of oldschool anime and things like that. One of my favorites is definitely Akira. There were rumors about a live action adaptation and I don't really mind as long as it pays homage to the original Akira which is pretty much the shit. Next time I'll try my best to narrow down the stuff I've seen so far. But right now I'm watching Jin-Roh (from Mamoru Oshii, Ghost in the Shell )which is also rumored to be a future live action film. I think Jin-Roh would be easier to adapt...

You know, first few minutes of this movie is heartrending. :(

I was listening to the Rurouni Kenshin OVA soundtrack and that's how I suddenly got emotional and was like, omg I want to draw Tomoe! I love how her and Kenshin's relationship was depicted. Such an enduring, but painful love! I'm into that kind of thing you know? Painful, enduring love stories I mean. XD Drawn under like, 10 mins or so. XD

I didn't expect this but 07 Ghost is getting better! And I seemed to have skipped that part about Mikage, when I realized this I didn't even bother to see the episode. BECAUSE I LOVE MIKAGE AND I WOULD PROBABLY CRY OVER A 2-D GUY so that sucks okay. Anyway, 07 Ghost is actually getting better and it's definitely changed my mind about dropping the series.

Finally! The third season of the ever epic Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei is out, Zan Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei! And the first episode is just as awesome as I expected and finally, it seems that the guys are getting more attention now. Especially Kudou-kun, the Gary Stu of my life. ♥ I seriously need to see more Kudou x Zetsubou-Sensei stuff. I can imagine Kudou suddenly being a sadist and saying embarrassing stuff like "Sensei is so cute...~♥" Yes I am shameless. I love younger semes and older ukes. And it's big bonus if i's a student/teacher relationship haha!






Reading Karneval, awesome art, intriguing plot. BUT NEEDS MORE WOMENZ. Is it weird that I'm more comfortable reading yaoi subtext laden mangas if it had more women and *gasp!* heterosexual relationships?

P.S: Hetalia episode 23 made me ship Romano/Feliciano. AHHHHHHH. And 24 made me ship Austria/Switzerland. WAH.
