Chapter 4: He was Unselfish
---------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------- ----------------------------
He had not been able to notice how dark it had become. The night had come unexpectedly for him. In an instant, the city lights flickered and Tokyo was a glittering spectacle.
It was a cold night, or maybe it was just the taxi’s air conditioning. He really didn’t know. He stared out side the car window, lost in a sea of thought. There was a song playing on his iPod but it he couldn’t remember what song it was, it had just passed by just like the other songs.Akanishi’s head rested on his lap, sleeping soundly.
Just like he always did, he brushed off the strands of hair that strayed across the other man’s face, lips forming the smallest smile.
It would always be him; he was the only person Jin could run to. For so many years, he was Akanishi’s only emotional support. He always took his friend’s pain and took it for his own. That was enough, he told himself. What he had now was enough to keep him satisfied.
His friend loved only person in the world. And that person was certainly not him, but that was of no importance to him. As long as he was by Jin’s side, was there anything else he could ask for?
Certainly not.
Ueda Tatsuya was content the way things were for him. It was painful contentment though, if there ever was such a thing.
The taxi had halted in front of their destination, and he knew he had to wake Akanishi.
---------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------- ----------------------------
Dragging Jin along to the door of his apartment was no easy task, he was heavy and drunk. Ueda didn’t mind though, this wasn’t the first time. This wasn’t rare. This was nothing to him.
He still had Jin’s arms around his shoulders as he opened the door with his spare key. He pushed the door closed as they entered, by that time, he was already breathing heavily. He continued to drag Akanishi to his bedroom. He even assisted the other with taking off his jacket, eyes glued on to those silver buttons that weren’t easy to unfasten. He had been so absorbed on this task that he had not realized the way Jin’s tearful eyes stared intently at him.
He was taken aback of course as large hands reached up to undo his own jacket, unbuttoning the first three buttons. Ueda smiled a bit and pushed them away gently.
“Jin, you’re drunk.”
There was no reply.
Jin wasn’t sober enough to reply. He just stood there and continued to stare at Tatsuya with his head tilted down so low that you could barely see his eyes. He chuckled to himself and grabbed Ueda by the waist and pressed their foreheads together. His hands went back to the now slightly opened jacket he was stopped from undoing. It had been slow torture for Ueda, no thoughts formed as he felt those strong hands open the rest of the buttons.
It had taken some time before Tatsuya pushed those hands away with so much more force that Jin himself had been pushed away, his back hitting the wall.
“Stop it Jin! Don’t be such a fucking idiot!”
Ueda said this, tears forming in his own eyes. He couldn’t bear to see anymore of this depression Jin wallowed himself in. And not being able to stop the depression, it hurt him more than it hurt Jin.
It seemed that Jin was not able to hear those words; he threw Ueda down to the large bed and placed himself on top of him, swatting away the fighting hands violently. He grabbed those thin wrists and pinned them down forcefully; the grip was so tight that the other was sure that they would leave bruises.
The kiss was just as violent, nothing about it was pleasurable. Jin’s hands did not roam nor did those eyes look back at Ueda. He lifted his head after that kiss and rolled to his side to lay down the free side of the bed leaving a disheveled Tatsuya speechless.
After a few minutes, Ueda had gotten up and walked outside to the kitchen as if nothing had happened. He decided he wanted to boil water for coffee. He placed the kettle on the electric stove setting the heat to medium. He left and walked to the bathroom and washed his face, using the same towel that Jin used as well to dry his face.
He walked back to the bedroom where his friend was sleeping. He just watched just like he always did.
He did not hate Jin for what he did, it was nothing. This wasn’t rare, and this was not the first time it had happened. First he walked to the edge of the bed, pulling off those muddled socks. He fixed the pillows and placed Akanishi’s head comfortably on them.
Jin moved in his sleep that time. Groaning a bit, as he rolled to his side like a kid.
“Ueda, don’t leave.”
He said softly, a tinge of sadness in that voice. He tenderly clasped those hands of Ueda, eyes closed, he was still half asleep.
“I’m sorry, don’t leave.”
He begged. Ueda sighed and looked up, he didn’t want the tears to fall, he cried too many times and was sick if it. So he looked up, resisting to look at the pitiful state his friend was in now, it would only make him feel like crying even more.
“Don’t leave Ueda, I need you. I didn’t mean it.”
“I’m not going anywhere, I’ll just stay here. Just like I always do.”
“Really?”
“Really. I could never leave you, not after everything you’ve done for me. I would never be the person I am now if it weren’t for you. I would’ve never been able to find the things that I truly wanted if it weren’t for you. So tell me, why would I ever leave you?”
He took in a deep breath; it took a great effort not to spill out how he indeed felt for the other. He had to keep everything inside for what he had now was his contentment, and he did not want to destroy the very cause of this contentment.
He did want to destroy the relationship he already had with Jin.
It hurt though.
Before he could say anything more, he had realized Akanishi was again, asleep. His hands though, still remained holding Ueda’s, much like a little child. They stayed in that position for quite some time.
Through the empty apartment, the kettle’s whistling echoed loudly. So then, Ueda took off Jin’s hands which held unto him. Jin once more stirred in his bed, mumbling.
“You said you wouldn’t leave.”
He complained. Ueda let out a chortle.
“I’m not. It’s just the water’s boiled now and I want some coffee.”

Author’s Notes: Hello more angst. I think I must admit that everything about this fan fiction is just painful, sad and woeful. I’m sorry that it turns out that way. Oh I don’t like torturing Ueda but I really think it fits this way. It’s really hard to be in his position, and just writing this, even I felt sad. AND I’M THE EVIL AUTHOR OMG! Jin is too spoiled if you ask me. Also, as you noticed, that most of the characters are being pulled into a downward spiral because—like I said, I’m the evil author. I hope you guys liked this chapter although the angst is just overflowing (as if it weren’t already). And like always, I love comments and criticisms! They’re the life of my fanfic writing!
